'Mind candy'? Absolutely. Road trips work well for me. Something about the journey always seems to help re-calibrate my mind. I think it has something to do with connecting to the larger landscape that can help get around the smaller, "localized" blocks.

I agree whole heartedly with your perspective on this subject. We need to keep in mind the positive reaction to cutting prices; people will buy the same quantity but save more. It will also build good rapport for the future. Also, we must start looking more from a global perspective on things. In today's world and economy, we cannot afford to deny the global perspective…the economy is not based solely on American dollars and we need to remember that. It is important to keep a positive attitude and utilize our human resources as well as our environmental. We must continue to plant good seeds and remain optimistic; we need to remember that people have to recess in order for their to be a recession…we must remain motivated and moving in order ti say focus.

Craig,

In addition to your great suggestions I always tell my clients to use slower business climates to research other potential industry applications for their service or product. In a recession, there are some industries that don't feel the pinch as deeply as others. Branch out, make calls, and do research into how your service or product may have either a compatible or substitute use. Who knows, you may find a new niche for your services!

Craig:
I really appreciate your perspective. A positive attitude is the best course of action at all times, but especially in tough times. I agree that we have a choice in front of us right now. We can bring about a full recession just by the way we speak of it. I also hear a lot of talk about the "R" word. The economy is changing, but I join you in advising that there is great value in staying positive. Your commitment to this weblog is a great example. Thank you.

Hi Craig - Just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy reading your blog every week and they are so inspiring and so true!!!! I miss you and everyone at LG (please tell everyone hello for me). Hope to see/hear from you soon!!!

Love - cathy

I’d like to hear from you:

• Do you take the time to fully understand the situation before you make the promise? I try to but it is very easy to let things get in the way of keeping those promises. When I used to work in the title business I would get requests for revisions on title work, eventhough I would promise it to them by a certain time I was relying on someone else to make that revision and get it to me. Well if the other person didn't follow through then my promise would be broken :o(

• Have you ever not been able to fulfill a promise? How did you feel? Yes, and it feels great because it is an accomplishment to you as well and making your customer happy!

• Do you know someone who worked his way out of the trap of not keeping his promises? What techniques did he use? Yes, I know people who have worked their way out of the trap but I honestly do not know what techniques that he used

Mark: Thanks for stopping by and sharing. Perception is a funny thing, it is always true to you. I never thought that someone's perception of risk taking could be greater than the actual risk itself. Great point. And you are so right, having a spouse that supports you through it all can never be underestimated.
